Zoran Mojsilov

Zoran Mojsilov was born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia in 1955. As a small child, he carved his own toys out of scrap wood and was adept at drawing and painting. In early adolescence he began Greco-Roman wrestling and continued this practice into his mid-20’s. He credits the discipline of training, an understanding of the skeletal muscular forms in the human body, and the spirit of competition in sports and life as primary factors for creating art today.

Mojsilov left Belgrade in 1983 for Paris, France to test his artistic credibility. In 1984, he met Ilene Krug, an American Artist, at Association Confluences. After two productive years there, they decided to move to Minneapolis in 1986.

Once in Minneapolis, Mojsilov made large scale sculptures in wood using the assemblage process that he had started in Paris. His career developed steadily with recognition from local and national grants such as the McKnight Artist Fellowship in 1987, the Socrates Sculpture Park / Athena Foundation Award in 1988 and 1990, the Pollack-Krasner Foundation Artist Fellowship in 1990, the Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Assistance Fellowship in 1994, the Bush Foundation Artist Fellowship in 1996, and the Jerome Foundation, Travel and Study Grant in 1993 and 2001.

Mojsilov had a sculptural break-through in 1990 when he was an artist-in-residence at La Vie des Formes in Chalon-sur-Saône, France. In this French shipyard, he took up welding and made sculptures in stone and steel. Mojsilov continues to use these durable materials in his public art projects to this day. They include: the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council High Bridge Park, St. Paul in 1995, the Minneapolis Arts Commission, Camden Gateway Project, Minneapolis in 1996, the Minnesota Percent for Art in Public Places, Rochester Community & Technical College in 1997; the Dallas Area Rapid Transit, Dallas TX in 1998; Wisconsin Percent for Art in Public Places, U of WI at Stevens Point WI in 1999; Kirchbak Sculpture Garden, Richfield MN in 2000; North Dakota Museum of Art, Grand Forks ND in 2000; Spirit of Milwaukee Neighborhood Millennium Art Initiative, Milwaukee WI in 2000; Nebraska Percent for Art in Public Places at Wayne State College in Wayne NE in 2002; the Anderson Center for Interdisciplinary Studies in Red Wing MN in 2006.

Dan Tana

Dan Tana (born in 1933 as Dobrivoje Tanasijević; Serbian Cyrillic: Добривоје Танасијевић) is an American actor and producer, restaurateur and former professional footballer from Yugoslavia. Tana is the proprietor of an eponymous restaurant, Dan Tana's, in West Hollywood, California, as well as being closely associated with football clubs Red Star Belgrade and Brentford F.C.

Tana was spotted playing football at 12, and offered an apprenticeship with Red Star Belgrade. He spent five years at Red Star, developing as a striker. His restaurateur father had been arrested by the new communists authorities established at end of Second World War and led by Marshal Tito, and his restaurants nationalised.

Tana was aged 17 when he toured Belgium in 1952 as part of the junior squad of the Yugoslav football team Red Star Belgrade to play R.S.C. Anderlecht. While in Brussels, Tana abandoned the team and stayed in Belgium.

The Church at Prayer

Many readers of the addresses of Elder Aimilianos, which have been published in the five-volume series, rchimandrite Aimilianos, Spiritual Instructions and Discourses (Ormylia, 1998-2003), have frequently expressed the wish for an abridged and more accessible form of his teaching. In response, we are happy to inaugurate a new series of publications incorporating key texts from the above-mentioned collection. Other considerations have also contributed o this new project, such as the selection of specific texts which address important, contemporary questions; the need for a smaller, more reader-friendly publication format; and the necessity for editing certain passages in need of clarification, without however altering their basic meaning.

Above all, the works collected in this volume reflect the importance which the Elder consistently attached to prayer, spirituality, community life, worship, and liturgy. Thus the experientially based works "On Prayer", and "The Prayer of the Holy Mountain", which deal primarily with the Prayer of the Heart, appear first, followed by the summary addresses on "The Divine Liturgy", and "Our Church Attendance". These are in turn followed by the more socially oriented discourses on "Our Relations with Our Neighbor", and "Marriage: The Great Sacrament". Finally, the present volume closes with the sermons on "Spiritual Reading" and "The Spiritual Life", which in a simple and yet compelling manner set forth the conditions for "ascending to heaven on the wings of the Spirit".

It is our hope that The Church at Prayer will meet the purpose for which it is issued and will serve as a ready aid and support for those who desire God and eternal life in Him.
