Prva Srpkinja u finalu najveće evropske nagrade za pronalazače

Naučnica Gordana Vunjak-Novaković nominovana je za finalistkinju prestižne Evropske nagrade za pronalazače 2021 za inovativni doprinos u bio-medicinskom inženjerstvu, objavio je danas Evropski zavod za patente (EZP).

Rad srpsko-američke naučnice rešio je kompleksne probleme u vezi sa zamenom oštećenog tkiva, zbog čega je EZP odlučio da prvi put jedna je od troje finalista u prestižnoj kategoriji „Životno delo“ bude i naučnica iz Srbije.

„Tokom svoje naučne karijere, Gordana Vunjak-Novaković dala je ogroman doprinos inženjerstvu tkiva, jednom od najperspektivnijih načina za produženje ljudskog veka i poboljšanje kvaliteta života“, rekao je predsednik Evropskog zavoda za patente Antonio Kampinos, saopštavajući imena finalista za 2021. godinu.

„Njena naučna inovacija, preduzetnički način razmišljanja i patentirani pronalasci nude mogućnost bezbednije rehabilitacione medicine kod mišićno-koštanih, srčanih i plućnih stanja, otvarajući vrata novom dobu regenerativne medicine“, dodao je.

Istraživačica, koju je kao dete inspirisao lik i delo Nikole Tesle, pionir je alternativnog pristupa koji obuhvata laboratorijsko uzgajanje ćelija, navodi se u saopštenju EZP.

Svoju višedecenijsku karijeru je posvetila razvoju „ex-vivo“ tehnike inženjerstva tkiva koja omogućava bezbednijii i precizniji način kultivacije koštanog, srčanog, plućnog i vaskularnog tkiva, bilo za transplantaciju, modeliranje bolesti ili ispitivanje lekova.

Pre nego što je razvila svoju tehniku, zamena tkiva je podrazumevala ili bolan graft iz tela pacijenta (autologni implantat, odnosno kost iz drugog dela tela pacijenta), ili je nosila rizik od odbacivanja od strane imunog sistema u slučaju graftova uzetih sa leša.

Pionirska tehnika Vunjak-Novaković uključuje „ex-vivo“ stvaranje živih bioloških graftova putem kultivacije novog komada tkiva iz sopstvenih ćelija pacijenta, u potpunosti eliminišući ove probleme, kažu u EZP.

Predsednik Srbije Aleksandar Vučić je profesorku Vunjak-Novaković odlikovao Ordenom Karađorđeve zvezde drugog stepena 2020. godine za naročite zasluge u predstavljanju Srbije i njenih građana i postignute izuzetne rezultate u oblasti medicinskih nauka i biomedicinskog inženjerstva.

Ugledna naučnica je i kreativni ambasador Srbije u okviru Saveta za kreativne industrije pri Kabinetu predsednice Vlade Srbije Ane Brnabić, dodaje se u saopštenju.

Pobednici godišnje nagrade EZP za inovaciju za 2021. godinu biće proglašeni na ceremoniji koja počinje 17. juna u 19 časova, a koja je ove godine osmišljena kao digitalni događaj za svetsku publiku.

Bishop Sava (Vuković)

(1967–1977)

Bishop Sava was born on April 13, 1930 in Senta. After graduating from secondary school he completed the St. Sava Seminary in Belgrade in 1950 and the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of the University of Belgrade in 1954. He did his postgraduate studies at the Old Catholic University in Bern, Switzerland. He obtained a Doctor of Divinity degree at the Faculty of Theology in Belgrade. His dissertation topic was “Typicon of the Archbishop Nikodim.”

He was professor at St. Sava Seminary in Belgrade prior to his election as a bishop. He received monastic vows at the Monastery “Vavedenje” (Entry of the Theotokos) in Belgrade on December 3, 1959. The monastic name he received was Sava. He was ordained hierodeacon on December 4, 1959. On June 3, 1961 he was ordained hieromonk. The Holy Bishops’ Assembly of the Serbian Orthodox Church elected him bishop on May 20, 1961 with title “vicar bishop of Moravica.” He was consecrated bishop on July 23, 1961 in the Patriarchal Cathedral in Belgrade by Patriarch German. Bishop Sava held the following positions: Professor of liturgies at the Theological College, member of the Orthodox Commission for Pan Orthodox Council, and representative of the Serbian Church for inter-confessional dialogues. The Bishops’ Assembly elected Bishop Dr. Sava on June 1, 1967 for a Bishop of the Eastern American and Canadian Diocese. He occupied this position until May 1977 when he was elected as Bishop of the diocese of Šumadija.

Sebastian Press is building its reputation for promoting high quality theological, historical, ecclesiastical, spiritual, hagiographical, iconographical, philosophical and patristic writings in its repertoire. Also, due to growing demand, we are giving special attention to the publishing of new titles for children, teens, and families, including video and audio programs.
