Call for nominations for the Miša Djordjević Book Prize

North American Society for Serbian Studies is inviting nominations for the annual Miša Djordjević Book Prize.​ ​The prize is awarded annually to a distinguished scholar or student in the area of Serbian studies.

Previous recipients of this award include Charles Simic, the fifteenth Poet Laureate of the United States.

The recipient of the 2012 "Mihajlo Misha Djordjevic" Book Award was Tomislav Z. Longinovic for his book "Vampire Nation: Violence as Cultural Imaginary", Duke University Press, 2012.

The recipient of Mihajlo Misha Djordjevic Book Prize for 2009 is Gregory A. Freeman for his book The Forgotten 500: The Untold Story of the Men Who Risked All for the Greatest Rescue Mission of World War II.

Мејбл Гордон Данлоп Грујић (Mabel Gordon Dunlop Grouitch) (Кларксбург, Западна Вирџинија, 13. август 1872 - Вашингтон, 13. август 1956) била је жена српског дипломате Славка Грујића, велика српска добротворка и добровољна медицинска сестра при Црвеном крсту у Србији током Првог светског рата.

Мејбл Грујић рођена је као Мејбл Гордон Данлоп (енгл. Mabel Gordon Dunlop) 13. августа 1872. године у Кларксбургу, Западна Вирџинија. Отац јој је био инжињер и високи чиновник америчке железнице. У Америци је завршила колеџ, где се посебно занимала за уметност и археологију. Као ђак је сарађивала са омладинским листовима и часописама где су објављени њени запажени чланци. Након тога је добила стипендију за студије у Француској и Грчкој.

Founded in 2006 and named in honor of a first American born Orthodox priest, Fr. Sebastian Dabovic, a pioneer of the Orthodox Church in the West, Sebastian Press is one of the largest and most active publishers of Christian Orthodox publications on the West Coast.

Our hard working staff seeks to fruitfully enrich and deepen the faith of Christians from all over the world with a variety of titles, embracing a diversity of Orthodox Traditions, while also presenting the works of Serbian theologians.

Sebastian Press is building its reputation for promoting high quality theological, historical, ecclesiastical, spiritual, hagiographical, iconographical, philosophical and patristic writings in its repertoire. Also, due to growing demand, we are giving special attention to the publishing of new titles for children, teens, and families, including video and audio programs.

The primary mission of Sebastian Press is to motivate and inspire its readers to seek a deeper union with the God-Man, through the written word of Orthodox Christian material, both on the scholarly and popular level, and to give glory to the life-giving Trinity.
